The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has successfully dismantled a major drug trafficking operation following a high-profile raid on an 80-room hotel in Victoria Island, Lagos. The operation, conducted between April 25 and 26, led to the seizure of 589 bags of Canadian Loud, a potent strain of cannabis, weighing 417.3 kilograms and valued at ₦1,042,500,000 in street price.
During the raid, NDLEA operatives arrested three suspects identified as Eze Ayitu, Ofuokwu Samuel, and Emmanuel Ameh, while two other individuals remain at large. The hotel, known as The Hook Hotel (also referred to as Caesar Hotel and Caesar Lounge), was allegedly being used as a front for distributing illicit substances.
In a separate operation at the Seme Border area of Badagry, Lagos, NDLEA officers intercepted three Ghanaian women attempting to smuggle 4.8 kilograms of Ghana Loud, another strain of cannabis, into Nigeria. The suspects, identified as Haziza Zubairu (42), Samirat Mustapha (43), and Jamila Salifu (26), were apprehended at the Gbaji checkpoint.
Further investigations led to the recovery of vehicles, electronics, and other assets suspected to be proceeds of illicit drug trade, including a Toyota Prado Land Cruiser Jeep, Toyota Sienna, Volkswagen Delivery Van, Kia Cerato, Grand Caravan Dodge, 74 new television sets, and 13 refrigerators.
NDLEA Chairman, Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (Retd.), commended the operatives for their diligence and reaffirmed the agency’s commitment to eradicating drug trafficking networks across Nigeria. He urged citizens to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities to law enforcement authorities.
