Governor Hyacinth Alia has issued a firm statement regarding the security landscape in Benue State, emphasizing that the safety of individuals visiting the state cannot be guaranteed without the prior knowledge and coordination of the state government.

In a candid address to stakeholders and members of the press, Governor Alia underscored the importance of structured communication and collaboration between visitors—especially public officials, political figures, and non-governmental actors—and the state’s security apparatus.

"Benue is still navigating through sensitive security dynamics. Anyone coming into the state—whether for private, political, or official business—must inform the appropriate authorities. I cannot guarantee anyone's safety if they come here without my knowledge," the governor stated.

Governor Alia’s remarks follow heightened concerns over security incidents in parts of the state, including attacks by armed groups and communal clashes. He reiterated his administration’s commitment to restoring peace and protecting lives and property, but stressed that uncoordinated visits can complicate ongoing security operations.

He called on all stakeholders, including traditional rulers, community leaders, and political actors, to support the state government’s efforts in maintaining law and order, adding that transparent communication is critical to preventing avoidable risks.
