Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State has leveled serious accusations against his political opponents, alleging a deliberate plot to destabilize the state amidst the recent suspension and the imposition of emergency rule.

In a statement issued earlier today, Fubara expressed grave concern over what he described as a coordinated effort by opposition factions to undermine the stability and governance of Rivers State. The Governor, who is currently navigating a complex political and security situation, emphasized that these forces were attempting to create chaos and disrupt public order at a critical juncture in the state's development.

“Despite the challenges we face, it is clear that certain opposition groups are working behind the scenes to destroy the progress we’ve made in Rivers State,” Fubara said. “They are intent on disrupting the peace, the rule of law, and the administration that has been established with the trust of the people. Their actions are not only irresponsible but dangerous for the future of this state.”

The accusations come in the wake of the recent suspension of key political figures, which was followed by the declaration of emergency rule to address escalating security concerns in the region. Fubara has been under increasing pressure from both political rivals and civil society groups, with some calling for transparency and accountability in his administration’s handling of the situation.

However, the Governor remained firm in his stance that the emergency rule was a necessary measure to protect the people of Rivers State and restore order. “We will not allow our state to fall into anarchy. The lawlessness we are witnessing is not only unacceptable, it is orchestrated by those who seek to impose their will through violence and disorder,” Fubara declared.

The Governor further assured citizens that the state government would continue to prioritize the welfare of its people and maintain its commitment to fostering peace, security, and sustainable development despite the challenging circumstances.

“We remain steadfast in our efforts to safeguard Rivers State from those who wish to tear it apart. We will hold those responsible for these malicious actions accountable. Together, we will overcome this difficult period and emerge stronger,” he concluded.
