Former President Muhammadu Buhari has reiterated his dedication to transparency and the welfare of the Nigerian people, emphasizing that he left office with the same physical assets he possessed prior to his presidency. This declaration was made during a meeting with governors from the Progressive Governors Forum (PGF) at his Kaduna residence.

In a statement released by his media aide, Garba Shehu, Buhari highlighted the importance of a citizen-centric approach to governance. He urged leaders to prioritize the welfare of the people over personal interests, citing his own example of maintaining the same physical assets throughout his tenure as president.

"Leadership presents both challenges and opportunities," Buhari stated. "Balancing these elements is essential for advancing national progress. I believe that leaders should focus on the needs of the citizens rather than their own."

The former president expressed gratitude to the Bola Tinubu administration for renovating his Kaduna residence, noting significant improvements to the interior while maintaining the building's external appearance. He also thanked the governors for their visit, acknowledging their contributions to Nigeria's democracy and the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Governor Hope Uzodinma of Imo State, Chairman of the PGF, commended Buhari's principled role in founding the APC and his enduring legacy in Nigerian politics. "Your Excellency, your legacy in Nigerian history is secure. You remain the only opposition candidate to have defeated an incumbent president. Your administration exemplified the core principles of our party, focusing on security, economic recovery, and anti-corruption," Uzodinma remarked.
