The Lagos State Police Command has today arraigned the female motorist responsible for the tragic accident that led to the death of prominent tech entrepreneur, Teejay, in Lagos. The fatal incident, which occurred earlier this week on the busy Lekki-Epe Expressway, has shocked the local tech community and the wider public.

The motorist, whose identity has been withheld pending further investigation, was brought before the Magistrate Court, where charges of reckless driving, manslaughter, and traffic violation were leveled against her. The case has been adjourned pending further hearings, and the accused has been remanded in police custody.

Teejay, a respected figure in the Nigerian tech industry, was a founder and CEO of a leading fintech startup that had gained both local and international recognition for its innovative solutions. His tragic passing has left an indelible void in the sector, with tributes pouring in from colleagues, friends, and the broader entrepreneurial community.

The accident occurred in the early hours of March 27, when the female driver, reportedly driving at high speed, lost control of her vehicle and collided with Teejay’s car, resulting in a fatal crash. Eyewitnesses reported that the driver was seen speeding in what appeared to be a deliberate act of negligence, leading to the unfortunate loss of life.

The Lagos State Police have promised to continue their investigation into the accident, ensuring that justice is served in the case. In a statement, the police spokesperson noted that the investigation is ongoing, with a focus on determining whether there were any additional factors contributing to the fatal crash.

“The loss of Teejay is a tragedy that has deeply affected our community,” the police spokesperson stated. “We are committed to ensuring that those responsible for this incident face the full extent of the law. The safety of all citizens on our roads remains a top priority, and we will continue to take decisive action against those who jeopardize public safety.”
