A coalition of civil society groups in Rivers State has issued a public ultimatum to the Sole Administrator of the state, demanding that he declare his assets within the next seven days. The coalition, which consists of various non-governmental organizations, human rights advocates, and transparency groups, emphasized the importance of upholding integrity and public trust in governance.
In a statement released today, the coalition stressed that asset declaration is a critical tool in ensuring transparency and accountability within government institutions. They stated that it is crucial for public officials, especially those in positions of power, to demonstrate financial openness, in line with constitutional provisions and ethical standards of governance.
"The Rivers State Sole Administrator is entrusted with a significant responsibility, and it is essential that he leads by example in promoting transparency," the statement read. "Asset declaration is not just a legal requirement but a moral one, fostering public confidence and safeguarding against corruption."
The coalition has called on the Sole Administrator to publicly disclose his assets within the specified timeframe, stressing that failure to do so would result in further public scrutiny and potential legal action.
