The Ogun State Government has officially suspended Oba Abdulsemiu Ogunjobi, the Oloorile of Orile Ifo, for a period of six months following his involvement in a disturbing public assault captured in a viral video. The incident, which has drawn widespread condemnation, showcases the monarch's aggressive behavior towards Chief Arinola Abraham, who was seen kneeling and subjected to verbal abuse and physical assault.

In the two-minute video that circulated online, Oba Ogunjobi is seen berating Chief Abraham while threatening him with imprisonment. During the confrontation, a man accompanying the traditional ruler is also observed slapping the chief and instructing him to prostrate before the king. This incident reportedly stemmed from a dispute over local kingship supremacy, where Oba Ogunjobi expressed his dissatisfaction with Chief Abraham's perceived support for a rival candidate.

Governor Dapo Abiodun's administration has described the actions of Oba Ogunjobi as "inappropriate and inhumane." The Governor's Special Adviser on Communication and Strategy, Kayode Akinmade, emphasized that such conduct is unacceptable for any traditional leader and assured that an investigation would be conducted to address this matter thoroughly.

In response to the incident, Governor Abiodun stated, "The dignity of our traditional institutions must be upheld at all times. We cannot condone acts of violence and humiliation, especially from those who are meant to lead by example."
