Nigerian Authorities Summon Kenya Airways Representative Over Alleged Unprofessional Conduct in Treatment of Nigerian Passenger at Nairobi Airport

The Nigerian government has summoned a senior representative from Kenya Airways for questioning following reports of alleged unprofessional conduct in the treatment of a Nigerian passenger at Nairobi’s Jomo Kenyatta International Airport. The incident, has drawn widespread criticism and sparked concerns over the airline's treatment of passengers.


According to reports, the Nigerian passenger was subjected to what is described as degrading and disrespectful behavior by Kenya Airways staff at the Nairobi airport. Eyewitnesses have cited incidents of verbal abuse, undue delay in boarding, and improper handling of the passenger’s luggage. The incident has raised serious concerns regarding the airline’s customer service standards and its treatment of international passengers.


In response to these reports, the Nigerian Ministry of Aviation has issued a formal summon to Kenya Airways, urging the airline to provide a detailed explanation of the events that transpired. The Nigerian authorities have made it clear that they expect a swift and thorough investigation into the matter, and are demanding that corrective actions be taken if the allegations are found to be true.


Kenya Airways has acknowledged the situation and expressed regret over the incident. The airline has assured Nigerian authorities that it will fully cooperate with the investigation and take appropriate action if any misconduct is confirmed.

The Nigerian Ministry of Aviation has called for a prompt resolution of the issue, emphasizing the importance of maintaining high standards of service for all travelers, particularly at major international airports. The ministry also warned that any proven breach of passenger rights would be met with strict penalties to ensure that such incidents do not occur in the future.
