The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has successfully apprehended seven individuals suspected of involvement in vandalizing critical national infrastructure in Abuja. The suspects were arrested during a routine operation aimed at safeguarding public and private assets across the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
The operation, conducted by the NSCDC's Anti-Vandalism Unit, led to the discovery of illicit activities targeting pipelines, communication towers, and other strategic installations. The arrested individuals are believed to have been part of a larger network responsible for the destruction of these assets, which poses a significant threat to national security and public safety.
The suspects, whose identities are being withheld pending further investigations, were found in possession of tools commonly used in carrying out acts of vandalism. NSCDC officials have confirmed that the arrested vandals are being interrogated, and efforts are underway to gather intelligence to dismantle the syndicates behind these criminal activities.
NSCDC Commandant General, Dr. Ahmed Audi, expressed his commitment to protecting the nation's critical infrastructure and emphasized the importance of collaboration with other security agencies and the general public in curbing vandalism. He assured that the Corps would continue to deploy proactive measures to ensure the security and safety of citizens and businesses within the FCT.
