In a swift and decisive operation, the Nigeria Police Force has successfully rescued Mrs. Folashade Odumosu, the wife of retired Assistant Inspector General of Police Hakeem Odumosu, who was abducted on January 16, 2025. The operation took place in Ogun State, where police operatives neutralized the kidnappers and recovered ransom money.
The abduction occurred around 9:45 PM when four masked gunmen forcibly took Mrs. Odumosu from her vehicle at the entrance of her residence in Arepo. Following her kidnapping, the police launched an extensive manhunt to locate and rescue her.
According to Muyiwa Adejobi, the Force Public Relations Officer, the operation culminated in a confrontation with the kidnappers, resulting in their elimination. The Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, commended the efforts of the police operatives involved in the rescue operation and praised Ogun State Commissioner of Police Lanre Ogunlowo for his leadership.
Mrs. Odumosu was reported safe following her rescue, and the police are continuing investigations to apprehend any remaining accomplices involved in this crime. The recovery of the ransom paid underscores the ongoing challenges posed by kidnapping incidents in Nigeria and highlights the police's commitment to ensuring the safety and security of citizens.
