The Ekiti State Government has announced plans to construct a new Governor and Deputy Governor's Lodge in Abuja at an estimated cost of N1.8 billion. This project, which is aimed at enhancing the operational efficiency of the state’s leadership, will serve as the official residence for Ekiti's top officials during their visits to the Federal Capital Territory.
In a statement released by the state government, Governor Biodun Oyebanji noted that the construction of the lodge is a strategic move to ensure seamless governance and representation for Ekiti State at the national level. The facility will offer both comfort and security, further positioning Ekiti as a key player in national discourse.
Governor Oyebanji emphasized that the project is in line with the state government's vision to improve the welfare of its leaders while contributing to the socio-economic development of the state. He explained that the new lodge will provide a conducive environment for engagement with federal government officials, business leaders, and other stakeholders critical to the growth of the state.
“The construction of this lodge is a necessary investment that will not only promote good governance but will also enhance our capacity to attract investment and foster relationships at the federal level,” Governor Oyebanji said.
The N1.8 billion allocated for the project will cover all phases of construction, from planning and design to the final completion of the structure. The project is expected to be completed within 18 months.
