Global Afrobeats sensation, David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has raised serious concerns over an alleged plot to cancel his upcoming show in Nigeria. The star, who has been a prominent figure in the music industry both locally and internationally, claims that the cancellation is in retaliation for a comment he made regarding Nigeria’s economy.

In recent days, Davido’s remarks on the challenges facing the Nigerian economy have sparked widespread discussion, with the artist advocating for improved leadership and policies to uplift the country’s citizens. The comment, however, has reportedly ruffled the feathers of certain parties, leading to an orchestrated attempt to prevent him from performing in his home country.

“It's unfortunate that my words have been misconstrued, and now they’re being used as a basis to stop my show. I love my country and have always been vocal about its progress. I have never shied away from addressing the issues that affect ordinary Nigerians, and this will not stop me from doing so,” Davido said in a statement on social media.

The artist, who has consistently used his platform to champion social causes, also emphasized that his comments were made with the intent to contribute positively to the discourse surrounding Nigeria’s economy. His remarks highlighted the need for economic reform and better opportunities for youth empowerment in the country.

Despite this, some individuals and groups within political and entertainment circles have been pushing to cancel his highly anticipated show, which is scheduled for next month. The show, which was expected to attract thousands of fans from across the nation, is now at risk due to external pressure, with rumors circulating that certain stakeholders are seeking to prevent the performance in light of the controversy.

Davido, who has enjoyed a longstanding career and international success, remains steadfast in his commitment to perform. “My fans in Nigeria are everything to me, and I will not let anyone silence my voice or stop me from sharing my music and message with them. This show will go on, and I will continue to advocate for change, both in our economy and our society,” he asserted.
