The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has successfully neutralized over 20 terrorist fighters and destroyed a gun truck during a coordinated operation aimed at thwarting an attack on troops stationed in the northeastern region of Nigeria. The operation, carried out by NAF personnel in collaboration with ground forces, resulted in the successful repulsion of a terrorist assault and further reinforced the nation's commitment to the fight against terrorism.

The NAF, acting on actionable intelligence, launched airstrikes on terrorist positions in the region, leading to the destruction of the gun truck and the neutralization of over 20 combatants. The coordinated aerial assault was part of ongoing operations aimed at dismantling terrorist groups and ensuring the safety of Nigerian citizens and military personnel.

In a statement, the Director of Public Relations and Information, Nigerian Air Force, Air Commodore Edward Gabkwet, emphasized the importance of sustained efforts in the battle against terrorism. He confirmed that the attack on Nigerian troops, which was launched by the terrorists earlier in the day, was effectively repelled, with the NAF’s swift intervention playing a key role in thwarting the militants’ plans.

“This successful operation demonstrates the professionalism and unwavering commitment of the Nigerian Air Force in supporting ground operations and neutralizing threats to our nation’s peace and security. Over 20 terrorists were neutralized, and a gun truck used by the militants was destroyed in the process. This is a significant blow to the terrorist elements,” said Air Commodore Gabkwet.

The NAF also confirmed that no personnel were lost in the operation, while ground troops continue to work in synergy with air support to secure the region.

The Nigerian military has vowed to intensify operations against terrorist groups, ensuring that they are unable to regroup or carry out further attacks on troops or civilian populations. The ongoing efforts to safeguard Nigeria’s territorial integrity and restore peace to affected regions remain a top priority for the Armed Forces of Nigeria.
