Edo State Governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, has responded to circulating rumors that he may be arrested by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) next week, expressing confidence and stating that he is not afraid or worried about any potential legal actions.


In a statement today, Governor Obaseki reiterated his commitment to serving the people of Edo State with integrity and transparency, and emphasized that he remains focused on the work at hand, which includes advancing the state’s development agenda.


"I have heard the rumors and speculations surrounding an alleged imminent arrest by the EFCC next week. However, let me make it clear: I am not afraid, nor am I worried. I have always operated within the boundaries of the law, and I will continue to uphold the principles of honesty, accountability, and good governance," Obaseki said.


Governor Obaseki noted that his administration has made significant strides in improving public finances, tackling corruption, and ensuring the efficient use of state resources. He expressed confidence that the legal processes would follow due procedure and that he would fully cooperate with the relevant authorities if required.


"I remain unshaken in my commitment to my duty as the Governor of Edo State. My focus is to ensure the continued growth and prosperity of Edo State, and I will not be distracted by baseless rumors or political maneuverings aimed at derailing the progress we’ve made," Obaseki added.
