Idris Okuneye, popularly known as Bobrisky, has been released on bail following his arrest by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) over allegations of bribery. The controversial cross-dresser was apprehended at Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos while attempting to board a flight to Amsterdam. During the arrest, he reported sustaining injuries and took to social media to seek assistance from his followers.

Bobrisky was detained after a voice note surfaced online, allegedly from social critic Martins Otse, also known as VeryDarkMan. In the recording, it was claimed that Bobrisky had paid N15 million to EFCC officials in exchange for dropping money laundering charges against him. However, upon his release late Friday night, Bobrisky firmly denied these allegations.

In an official statement made at the EFCC headquarters, Bobrisky asserted that he did not bribe any EFCC officers. He challenged VeryDarkMan to substantiate the claims made in the viral audio. “I deny everything about releasing money to any official as a bribe to drop the money laundering charges against me,” he stated. “The individual who posted the voice note should come forward and justify it.”

The EFCC has confirmed Bobrisky's release but has not commented further on the ongoing investigation into the allegations. Dele Oyewale, the commission’s spokesperson, indicated that an inquiry into the claims made in the voice note is underway.

Bobrisky’s legal team is reportedly preparing to take action against those spreading what they describe as defamatory information regarding his character and actions.
