A tragic incident occurred on Saturday night at a house party in Knin, Croatia, where a hand grenade accidentally exploded, resulting in the death of one individual and injuries to three others. The victim, a 25-year-old man, succumbed to his injuries after the grenade detonated while he was handling it.

According to police reports, the grenade was a vintage M-75 model from the former Yugoslavia. It was handed to the victim by another partygoer, also aged 25. Authorities stated that the explosion was due to improper handling of the weapon. In addition to the deceased, a 23-year-old male and a 21-year-old female were injured in the blast and are currently receiving medical attention.

"This incident highlights the dangers associated with improper handling of military ordnance," said a police spokesperson. "We are conducting a thorough investigation to determine how this grenade came into possession of civilians."

The explosion has raised concerns regarding the remnants of military weapons left over from Croatia's War of Independence (1991-1995). Many such weapons remain in civilian hands, despite ongoing efforts to collect and surrender them. In the Sibenik-Knin area alone, over 5,000 firearms have been surrendered to authorities this year.
