In a significant development in the ongoing fight against terrorism, Nigerian troops have received a notorious Boko Haram terrorist who surrendered to the Multi-National Joint Task Force (MNJTF) in Borno State. The terrorist, identified as Bochu Abacha, was a key figure in several terrorist operations along the Mongunu-Baga axis.

Lt. Col. Olaniyi Osoba, the spokesperson for the MNJTF, confirmed the surrender in a statement released today. “Bochu Abacha, a notorious Boko Haram terrorist, has surrendered to our troops in Kukawa Local Government Area. He admitted to participating in numerous Boko Haram and ISWAP operations and decided to surrender due to the intense operations of the MNJTF and his loss of interest in the terrorist cause,” said Lt. Col. Osoba.

Bochu Abacha escaped from a Boko Haram camp in Mussaram with his weapon and surrendered to the MNJTF. Items recovered from him include one AK-47 rifle, a magazine loaded with 11 rounds of 7.62 mm ammunition, a mobile phone, an Airtel SIM card, and the sum of Thirty-Two Thousand Five Hundred Naira (N32,500). He is currently providing valuable intelligence to the authorities.

In a separate operation, MNJTF troops deployed in Gubio, in collaboration with intelligence operatives, successfully ambushed Boko Haram terrorists conveying large logistics supplies in three Toyota vehicles under the cover of darkness. The troops engaged the terrorists in a fierce gun battle, resulting in the death of one terrorist while others fled into the nearby forest. Items recovered from the operation include three Toyota vehicles loaded with assorted foodstuffs and other sundry items.

The MNJTF continues to intensify its operations against Boko Haram and ISWAP terrorists in the Lake Chad region, aiming to restore peace and security to the affected areas. The surrender of Bochu Abacha is a testament to the effectiveness of these operations and the growing disillusionment among the ranks of the terrorists.
