The Executive Governor of Rivers State, His Excellency Nyesom Wike, kick-off the construction of the Akpabu-Egbeda-Omoku Link Road in Emohua Local Government Area of River state. During the kick-off of the project, he spoke to the community that they should keep all their votes in one basket. Further stating that they should cast their vote for all the PDP candidates running for political offices in the state.

Nyesom said his mind is already made up, and attackers can continue doing whatever they want but he won’t be bothered and no volume of abuse can make him change his mind towards the presidential candidate he intends to support for the forthcoming 2023 general election.

Wike said some people who can’t even poll twenty-five votes are among those condemning him for his stand but added that such would have dire political consequences because they would end up in bitter tears when the reality of their political loss would stare them in the face eventually.

Wike statement read in part:

“If anybody likes, say what you want to say that I am working for so and so person, it’s their business, say that I am not working for so and so person, it’s their business. That will not make me change my mind about where we are heading to. Do you understand me?”

“So, if they like, they can make speculations. After all, that is why the word, speculation is there. Some of them, who do not have 25 votes are busy abusing the leaders. When you finished abusing the leaders you will pay”

The Executive Governor emphasised that anyone who wants to get votes at any level within the state must be ready to give value in exchange for the votes. He further stated that developmental projects are what the electorate deserves for their vote and his administration would continue to do that before leaving office in May 2023.

“We are here talking to our people, they are there on radio stations and television houses. When you are finished talking to our people, by that time, it’ll be too late for them. Be bold enough to ask any politicians when they come what did you bring for us? You come with an empty hand, you will go with an empty hand. You come with projects, we give you votes. You come with promises, we give you promises”.

Wike appreciates the entire people of the Egbeda community for their great support and promises to his administration would continue with developmental projects.
