TikTok has announced a decisive new policy aimed at protecting Nigerian children from online exploitation. In a bold move to reinforce its global commitment to child safety, the social media platform has vowed to permanently ban any account found promoting the sexualisation of Nigerian minors, reaffirming its zero-tolerance stance on child sexual abuse material (CSAM) and related content.

This announcement follows growing concerns from Nigerian authorities, child protection advocates, and digital rights groups about the increasing visibility of inappropriate content involving minors on social media. TikTok’s latest action is part of a broader initiative to strengthen its enforcement of community guidelines and ensure a safer digital environment for young users.

“Sexualised content involving minors is illegal, harmful, and has no place on our platform,” said a TikTok spokesperson. “We are committed to working with Nigerian regulators, civil society, and law enforcement to identify and remove violative content and hold offenders accountable.”

TikTok’s Community Guidelines already prohibit content that exploits or endangers minors, but this new policy signals a more aggressive enforcement approach, particularly in regions where digital exploitation is on the rise.
