The National Coalition Against Mass Killings and Injustice (NCAMKI) has issued a strong call for justice following the horrific killing of 12 innocent travellers from Kaduna State in Mangun District, Mangu Local Government Area of Plateau State.
According to reports, the victims—who were en route to a wedding ceremony in Quan Pan Local Government Area—were ambushed and murdered in what NCAMKI described as a “barbaric and calculated act of mob violence.” Eleven others sustained varying degrees of injuries in the attack.
In a statement released today, NCAMKI’s spokesperson, Amina Yusuf, condemned the killings in the strongest terms, calling them “a gross violation of human rights and a stain on our collective conscience.” She urged federal and state authorities to act decisively and transparently in apprehending and prosecuting the perpetrators.
“We cannot allow this cycle of impunity to continue,” Yusuf said. “The lives of Nigerian citizens must be protected regardless of their state of origin, religion, or destination. These were peaceful travellers, not combatants. Their only crime was being in the wrong place at the wrong time.”
NCAMKI commended Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani for his swift response and insistence that the killers be “fished out and dealt with accordingly.” The coalition also called on Plateau State Governor Caleb Mutfwang to take full responsibility for ensuring justice is served and to work closely with security agencies to prevent further violence.
