The Rivers State Government has confirmed the resignation of Goodluck Iheamnacho, the appointed Administrator of Ahoada East Local Government Area, following a letter submitted to the office of the State’s Sole Administrator, Retired Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas.
Iheamnacho, who assumed office on April 11, 2025, tendered his resignation on June 20, citing a desire to return to private life. In his letter, he expressed gratitude to the government and the people of Ahoada East for the opportunity to serve, stating: “My sincere gratitude goes to the government of Rivers State and the good people of Ahoada East for finding me worthy to serve.”
The resignation, however, has stirred public interest and speculation. While the official reason remains personal, unconfirmed reports suggest the administrator may have faced pressure leading to his decision. Some sources allege that unidentified individuals entered the council secretariat and coerced Iheamnacho into signing the resignation letter. The letter itself has drawn scrutiny for referencing a service period ending July 20, despite being dated a month earlier.
The Rivers State Government has yet to issue a formal statement regarding a replacement or the circumstances surrounding the resignation. The Ahoada East council secretariat remains closed, with security personnel reportedly stationed at the premises.
