Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State has cast his vote in the highly anticipated and controversial local government (LG) elections today, urging the residents of the state to actively participate in the democratic process despite the ongoing legal disputes surrounding the elections.

In his statement after casting his vote at his polling unit in the state capital, Osogbo, Governor Adeleke emphasized the importance of local elections in strengthening democratic governance at the grassroots level. “As we go to the polls today, I urge every eligible voter to make their voice heard. It is our collective responsibility to ensure that our local governments reflect the will of the people, and that is why it is crucial for everyone to engage in this process,” said the governor.

The elections have sparked controversy due to legal challenges regarding the legitimacy of the voting process and the recent court ruling concerning the conduct of the election. Despite these disputes, Adeleke remains committed to ensuring that the will of the people prevails, asserting that the government is dedicated to providing a transparent and fair election process.

“We understand the concerns of the citizens, but the government is committed to upholding the democratic process. It is important for the people of Osun State to make their decisions known and ensure that their chosen leaders at the local level are in place,” the governor added.
