A Lagos Court has granted popular Nigerian singer, Habeeb Okikiola, known as Portable, bail in the sum of N2 million following his appearance in court today on charges related to assault. The court’s decision comes after an initial hearing on the matter, which was brought against the artist after a widely circulated video surfaced, showing an alleged assault on a man.

The case has sparked significant public attention, with social media reactions and widespread discussions surrounding the artist’s behavior and the legal implications. Portable, who is known for his controversial public persona, was granted bail by Justice Olubunmi Ayodeji, who also adjourned the case to March 5, 2025 for further proceedings.

In court today, Portable's legal team sought to reduce the terms of his detention, citing his cooperation with authorities. Prosecutors, however, maintained that the severity of the allegations necessitated the substantial bail amount to ensure he returns for future hearings.
