Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has expressed full support for the United States’ recent decision to impose fresh sanctions on 400 Russian entities. These sanctions, announced earlier this week, target key sectors of the Russian economy, including finance, defense, and technology, and aim to further weaken Russia’s capacity to sustain its ongoing aggression against Ukraine.
In a statement issued from Kyiv, President Zelenskyy commended the U.S. government's firm stance against Russia’s continued violation of international law and its blatant disregard for the sovereignty of Ukraine. “We welcome this decisive action by the United States to hold Russian entities accountable for their role in perpetuating the brutal war in Ukraine,” President Zelenskyy said. “These sanctions are not just punitive measures; they are an important part of the global effort to isolate and weaken the Kremlin, sending a clear message that Russia’s actions will not go unchallenged.”
The U.S. sanctions, which target over 400 entities, individuals, and businesses, are part of an ongoing strategy to further isolate Russia on the global stage. The sanctions aim to restrict access to critical technologies, financial systems, and other resources that contribute to Russia’s military and geopolitical ambitions.
“Ukraine remains deeply grateful for the unwavering support of the United States and its partners in the international community. These sanctions demonstrate the world’s commitment to ensuring that Russia’s unprovoked invasion of Ukraine does not succeed,” President Zelenskyy continued. “We are determined to defend our sovereignty and will continue to work with our allies to hold Russia accountable.”
