The National Chairman of the Labour Party, Julius Abure, has expressed his willingness to engage in reconciliation talks with former Presidential candidate Peter Obi and Governor Alex Otti of Abia State, calling their ongoing disputes a “family affair” that can be resolved through dialogue and mutual understanding.
In a statement released today, Abure emphasized the importance of unity within the party, noting that disagreements within political families are not unusual but can be addressed constructively. "The Labour Party is a united family, and like any family, disagreements can arise. However, these issues are not insurmountable," Abure said. "I believe in the power of dialogue and reconciliation. We are all working towards the same goal, and it is only by coming together that we can achieve the greater good for our people."
Abure's comments come amid growing tensions within the Labour Party, which has seen notable figures such as Obi and Otti at odds over several political issues. However, the Labour Party Chairman remains optimistic about finding common ground, stating that the party's focus on national development and its commitment to upholding democratic values should guide its internal processes.
He further emphasized that he is committed to preserving the party’s reputation for integrity, transparency, and progress, stressing that these values will be key in resolving internal conflicts. "We have a shared vision for a better Nigeria, and I am hopeful that any differences between our members will be resolved swiftly for the benefit of the party and the nation," Abure concluded.
