In a tragic incident early Friday morning, suspected terrorists launched a violent attack on the Dan Auta village in Sabuwa Local Government Area of Katsina State, resulting in the deaths of two individuals and the abduction of 14 others, including the local Chairman of the All Progressive Congress (APC), Alhaji Imamu.

The assault occurred around 2 a.m., when a large group of armed assailants, reportedly on motorcycles and equipped with automatic weapons, invaded the community. Eyewitness accounts indicate that the attackers faced resistance from members of the Katsina State Community Watch Corps (KSCWC) and local vigilante groups. Despite their efforts, the overwhelming number of attackers led to significant casualties.

Among the deceased was a security operative from the KSCWC, who was killed while attempting to defend the community. The second victim was shot after resisting abduction. Additionally, several residents sustained injuries during the attack and are currently receiving treatment at a nearby healthcare facility.

This incident is part of a disturbing trend in Katsina State, which has experienced a surge in attacks by terrorists, kidnappers, and cattle rustlers. Many communities near the expansive forest areas that serve as hideouts for these criminals have been particularly vulnerable. Over the past decade, countless lives have been lost and thousands of individuals have been abducted for ransom across the region.

Local authorities have condemned this latest attack and are calling for increased security measures to protect residents from further violence. The police spokesperson for Katsina State, ASP Abubakar Aliyu, has been contacted for further comments but has not yet responded.
