Following a frustrating goalless draw against Rwanda in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers, Super Eagles forward, Ademola Lookman, has shed light on the team's inability to convert their chances into goals. The match, held at Amahoro Stadium, saw Nigeria dominate possession but ultimately fail to find the back of the net.

Despite a series of promising attacks and several near misses, the Super Eagles were unable to capitalize on their opportunities. Lookman, who was instrumental in creating several scoring chances, expressed disappointment but remained optimistic about the team's performance. "We had plenty of chances to score, but sometimes it just doesn't go your way," Lookman stated. "We need to be more clinical in front of goal and ensure that we take our opportunities when they arise."

The match showcased the skills of Rwandan goalkeeper Fiacre Ntwari, who made several crucial saves to keep Nigeria at bay. Lookman noted, "Ntwari had an exceptional game. He was quick off his line and made some outstanding saves. We need to give credit where it's due, but we also need to reflect on our finishing."

The Super Eagles had their first point drop in the qualifiers after a convincing 3-0 victory over Benin in their opening match. Coach Austin Eguavoen opted to bench star striker Victor Osimhen for the second consecutive match, a decision that has sparked discussions among fans and analysts alike. Lookman emphasized the importance of unity and resilience within the squad, stating, "We are a team, and every player has a role to play. Whether starting or coming off the bench, we all need to contribute to the team's success."

As the Super Eagles prepare for their next match against Libya, Lookman remains confident in the team's ability to bounce back. "We have to learn from this game and come back stronger. Our focus is on winning the next match and securing our place in the tournament," he concluded.

The Super Eagles currently sit at the top of Group D with four points from two matches, and they are determined to maintain their position as they aim for qualification to the AFCON tournament.
