The Presidency has issued a strongly worded statement condemning the African Democratic Congress (ADC) for what it describes as a “shameless exploitation” of the death of former President Muhammadu Buhari. Special Adviser to the President on Media and Public Communications, Sunday Dare, denounced the ADC’s recent remarks as a “laughable tantrum” and “manufactured outrage” aimed at gaining political relevance.

In the statement released Saturday, Dare asserted: “Let it be said clearly: the ADC is the one exploiting Buhari’s death for political attention, not this government. They have chosen to dance on his grave for relevance.”

Dare dismissed ADC’s allegations that President Bola Tinubu’s administration was using Buhari’s passing for political gain, calling the claims dishonest and insulting to millions of Nigerians who mourned the late statesman with dignity. He cited the solemnity of the state burial and the presence of global dignitaries as evidence of the administration’s respectful conduct.

The Special Adviser also criticized the ADC’s pattern of “hollow, attention-seeking criticisms,” describing the party as a “poorly amalgamated political contraption” struggling with an identity crisis. He referenced the “choreographed arrival” of opposition figures in Daura, which he claimed was orchestrated to stir political sentiment during a moment of national mourning.

Dare concluded by urging Nigerians to ignore the “political noise from an outfit gasping for attention,” reaffirming President Tinubu’s commitment to the Renewed Hope Agenda and emphasizing that governance continues with focus and integrity.
