The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has arrested Emami Ajetsibogho, younger brother of well-known Delta traditional figure Chief Ayiri Emami, in connection with the alleged importation of 414.2 kilograms of cannabis sativa into Lagos State.
Ajetsibogho, popularly known as “Warri Kinsman,” was apprehended on June 25, 2025, by NDLEA operatives attached to the Lagos Command. The illicit substance, reportedly valued at over ₦200 million, was discovered concealed in multiple bags, sealed in black and white nylon sachets.
Sources within the agency allege that Ajetsibogho had previously evaded arrest on multiple occasions due to his influential connections. Reports also suggest that a former Deputy Governor and gubernatorial candidate from the All Progressives Congress (APC) attempted to intervene in the case, allegedly offering inducements to NDLEA officials in a bid to suppress the investigation — efforts that were reportedly unsuccessful.
In response to growing public concern, a civil society group, Concerned Citizens for Justice and Accountability, has issued a statement urging the NDLEA and relevant authorities to ensure a transparent and impartial investigation. The group’s president, Casey Wealth, emphasized the need to dismantle the culture of impunity and hold all individuals accountable, regardless of status or political affiliation.
“How long shall we keep quiet while our youths are destroyed and our communities turned into theatres of chaos by drug lords hiding behind political masks?” Wealth stated. “Nigeria is not for sale, and Delta State is not a playground for narcotic-sponsored anarchy.”
When contacted, the NDLEA’s Lagos Command spokesperson, Mallum Abdullahi, declined to confirm or deny the arrest, citing his absence from Lagos at the time.
