The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has officially lodged a report with national security agencies concerning social media activist, VeryDarkMan, over statements deemed inciting and potentially disruptive to public peace. These comments followed recent enforcement actions by the Agency in the Onitsha drug market, Anambra State.
The agency's operations in Onitsha are part of a nationwide crackdown on the manufacturing, distribution, and sale of fake, substandard, and unregistered pharmaceutical products — a mission central to NAFDAC’s mandate of protecting public health and safety.
NAFDAC asserts that VeryDarkMan’s public commentary — shared across multiple social media platforms — contains "false, inflammatory, and inciting language" capable of sparking unrest, undermining lawful operations, and endangering the lives of enforcement personnel.
"Freedom of expression is a right, but when that expression begins to threaten national security, public order, and the integrity of regulatory institutions, it becomes a matter of serious concern," said NAFDAC Director-General, Prof. Mojisola Adeyeye. "The fight against fake drugs is not one to be politicized or sensationalized. Lives are at stake."
