The Nigeria Police Force has officially responded to recent reports alleging the disappearance of 3,907 firearms from its custody, calling the claims misleading and without merit.

In a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the Nigeria Police Force categorically denied the allegation, emphasizing that all firearms in its possession are accounted for, and the force maintains strict protocols to ensure their security. The report, which has gained attention in some media outlets, falsely suggests that a significant number of firearms have gone missing from police custody across the country.

“The Nigeria Police Force takes its responsibility for public safety very seriously. We would like to assure the public that all firearms in our custody are fully accounted for and that any assertion to the contrary is not only unfounded but also misleading,” said CSP Adejobi.

The police further stated that they are currently investigating the source of the false report and will take appropriate action to ensure that the integrity of the force is upheld. The statement also underlined that security agencies across the nation regularly audit their inventories to prevent any form of mismanagement or illegal activity related to firearms.
