In a recent development, 18 out of 29 federal directors who participated in the Permanent Secretary qualifying examination have failed to meet the required 50% threshold. This outcome was disclosed in a memo signed by Gabriel Aduda, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Defence, on behalf of the examination committee.
The 11 directors who achieved the necessary scores will advance to the next stage of the selection process, scheduled for Wednesday, February 12, 2025. This selection process is part of the Nigerian government's initiative to fill vacant permanent secretary positions.
A separate memo from the Head of Civil Service of the Federation, Didi Walson-Jack, outlined that officials currently undergoing disciplinary procedures are ineligible to apply. The memo also confirmed that President Bola Tinubu has approved the appointment process and emphasized that only candidates from specific states are eligible, ensuring compliance with the Federal Character principle.
