Former Governor of Kogi State, Yahaya Bello, has voluntarily presented himself to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) today, following an invitation regarding allegations of misappropriation of state funds. This marks his second appearance at the EFCC in recent months.

Accompanied by a team of legal representatives, Bello arrived at the EFCC headquarters in a black Toyota Hilux. His visit comes in the wake of a Supreme Court ruling that dismissed challenges to the constitutionality of the EFCC, paving the way for ongoing investigations into his financial dealings during his tenure as governor.

This latest inquiry involves multiple allegations, including misappropriation of approximately N80.2 billion, money laundering, and breach of trust. The EFCC has filed separate charges against Bello at both the Federal High Court and the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory in Abuja.

At a previous hearing on November 14, 2024, the EFCC requested an adjournment to November 27 to allow for further proceedings in this case. Sources indicate that Bello's return to the agency is part of a coordinated effort to address these serious allegations head-on.

Dele Oyewale, spokesperson for the EFCC, confirmed that Bello is currently undergoing questioning by investigators. This development follows a period during which Bello had been largely absent from public scrutiny amid ongoing legal challenges and speculations regarding his whereabouts.
